Mission
The Young Women's Project
is a multi-cultural organization that builds and supports teen women and girl
leaders so that they can improve their own lives and transform their
communities.
History
& Values
Founded by and for young women in 1992, YWP is guided by love, a
belief in the power and abilities of teen women, and a commitment to involving
young women in every level of organizational planning and leadership, from
training to fundraising, program design, and the board of directors.
Programs
YWP programs provide leadership
training, employment opportunities, project work, and a larger continuum of care
that enables teens to educate and organize their peers and work to change laws
and policies to reflect their realities.
Teen Women in Action
is an after-school
program that builds 100 DC teen women leaders each year through self advocacy,
leadership development, and project implementation. Teen-Adult
Partnerships
train
and support teen staff who work
to challenge and improve teen-serving institutions through city-wide issue
campaigns.
