Here you will find information on the Transition Center--including its history and what to say when you contact your council member.

Quick Update: Members of DC City Council are threatening to take the money away for the Youth Transition Center. We have 2 weeks to prevent this. We are urging people to Call, Email or Write a City Council Member TODAY! Go to the Council Member Web Page to find the names, numbers, and addresses of all the council members and their wards. Tell your friends to make calls and write emails, TOO!!

Tomorrow, another youth will age out of the system without any resources because he/she didn’t have a life long connection with supportive adults. The Transition Center will help youth with getting lasting support and help them to be more independent--we can’t wait another year.

Our concerns about "aging out" are not only our own. In February, we interviewed over 30 youth, who spoke to us about transitioning out of care. We analyzed the data and wrote a report that refelcted their needs; Click here to read that report.
