Executive Director - Nadia Moritz nadiamoritz@youngwomensproject.org

Nadia has been YWP's director since its founding in 1992 and has led the growth of YWP from an annual budget of $20,000 to $400,000. In past lives, Nadia served as a project coordinator and development associate at the Institute for Women's Policy Research, edited American Family Magazine at the Youth Policy Institute, and has worked as a nonprofit consultant. Nadia graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Pittsburgh with a BA in writing and women's studies. 

She has been on a number of Boards and Committees including the Board of Directors the National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy and the Empower Program, the Working Group on Girls and Violence (Center for Women's Policy Studies) and Independent Sector's Emerging Leaders, and the Advisory Board for the Women's Economic Development Institute (Ms. Foundation for Women) and the TAPP Program at Washington Hospital Center.

Senior Program Manager - Amena Johnson amenajohnson@youngwomensproject.org     

Amena manages all TWA staff, recruitment and training activities. For the past seven years, Amena has worked in the field of training, facilitation and curriculum development with organizations such as AIDS Delaware, Public Allies Delaware, Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay Inc., and Temple University. Much of her work was done as the Program Manager for the National Conference for Community and Justice, Delaware Region, where she developed and facilitated curricula for youth and adults around issues of bias, bigotry and racism. The bulk of this work was done in schools throughout Delaware with students, teachers and administrators. She also contributed 10 months of community service in Delaware as a Public Allies AmeriCorps member. Amena is a Certified Instructor of Trainers for the Girl Scouts of the USA and holds a BFA in Drama Therapy from Longwood University. She also holds an MS in Organizational Leadership from Wilmington College. 

Senior Program Coordinator - Kristina Gray kristinagray@youngwomensproject.org

Kristina serves as TWA site coordinator at Wilson and Anacostia Senior High Schools. She's also worked extensively with the PHASE program and has assisted with marketing/website development. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Goucher College in 2001 with a BA in Communications. In the past, she's interned at the National Women's Alliance, Points of Light Foundation, and Ms. magazine. A DC area native, she’s been involved in various local grassroots organizing efforts including Ladyfest DC and the Visions in Feminism conference. In 2002 she was published in the anthology Colonize This: Young Women of Color on Today's Feminism.

TWA Program A - Aminata Ahmadu aminataahmadu@youngwomensproject.org

Amie conducts trainings at Cardozo, Dunbar and Wilson Senior High Schools. She also serves as an office systems assistant. A TWA alumnus, she returned to work with the Young Women's Project in December 2005. She graduated Cum Laude from Coppin State University in 2005 with a BS in the Social Sciences. She is also certified through the American Humanics as a Nonprofit Manager. In the past she has worked with the Center for Women’s Policy Studies, Martha’s Table, City at Peace, the American Red Cross, and Partners in Progress. In 2001, the Washingtonian Magazine recognized her as a Who’s Who student.  

TWA Program Associate - Tdisho Doe tdishodoe@youngwomensproject.org     

Tdisho conducts TWA trainings at Cardozo, Dunbar and Wilson Senior High Schools. She also serves as the financial systems assistant and foster care associate with YWP. A TWA/FCC alumnus, she returned to work full - time with the Young Women's Project in January 2005. She will receive her degree in Criminal Justice from University of Pittsburgh in the fall of 2007. In the past, she worked with the DC Alliance for Youth Advocates, the Black Student Coalition, and Tigers Against Aids. In 2004, she was recognized for academic excellence.

 

Training and Policy Fellow - Trinh Nguyen trinhnguyen@youngwomensproject.org  

 

Trinh focuses on research, policy analysis and legislative development for the Foster Care Campaign. She's also conducted PHASE trainings at Wilson and Cardozo High Schools, TWA trainings at Dunbar High School and knowledge-skill trainings for the Foster Care teen staff. She also assists FCC teen staff with the Mandatory Allowance Campaign. A native of Vietnam, Trinh moved to Texas in 1992 and then relocated to the DC area to attend Georgetown University. Currently on leave from school, Trinh hopes to complete her studies in International Health and attend medical school to pursue a career in emergency medicine and international development. In addition to her work with YWP, she serves as a bilingual advocate for the Asian/Pacific Islander Domestic Violence Resource Project and the DC Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Trinh is also active in student advocacy campaigns focusing on issues of Darfur, human trafficking, HIV/AIDS, and domestic violence.
